The outdoor seating adds extra charm, especially during warm California evenings when people gather over wine glasses, handcrafted cocktails, and shareable plates that keep the table lively. The space feels modern without trying too hard, blending comfort with a stylish edge that works equally well for casual dinners, date nights, or small group meetups.

One thing that stands out about Juan Jasper Kitchen & Wine is how balanced the menu experience feels. You can stop in for coffee and a light bite during a relaxed afternoon or settle in for a full dine-in experience with comfort food and carefully selected wines. The small plates make it easy to sample different flavors, which keeps the meal social and interactive instead of rushed. Alongside the food, the beverage selection deserves attention too. Guests can explore everything from classic cocktails and local beer options to smooth wine pairings that match the laid-back yet refined energy of the restaurant.

The service style also fits the overall vibe perfectly. The onsite service feels attentive without being overly formal, helping the restaurant maintain an approachable personality that makes guests want to stay longer. Since there’s no delivery focus, the experience feels centered around actually enjoying the atmosphere in person, whether you’re seated indoors soaking in the cozy setting or outside enjoying the neighborhood energy. Around dinner hours, the restaurant develops a lively rhythm filled with conversation, clinking glasses, and plates moving across tables, creating the kind of environment people often look for when exploring San Diego’s dining scene.

Like another reviewer said, I almost want to keep this place a secret. It feels like one, and I want to protect it at all costs. My wife and I got here around 5 and there was a wait of just a few minutes. As 6pm rolled closer, there was definitely more of a crowd. The wines here are great, and reasonably-priced. The menu is small, but the food is exceptional. We got the burger, fries, mac and cheese, deviled eggs, and the octopus. The octopus was a daily special, the rest were part of the standard menu. There were no bad menu items. Service was great. No notes. Just keep in mind that Juan Jasper only accepts cash, Venmo, and Zelle.

A very busy place that offers a variety of options made fresh by the team with excellent wine prices. Had the lamb chop appetizer which was more on the medium-to-well. Medium rare would've been perfect and needed a bit more seasoning. Similar can be said about the ribeye steak (you pick the steaks from next door) - came out more medium than the medium rare we wanted. Steak needed some salt and more seasoning. Large shrimp app was also nice but also a bit overcooked with plenty of butter as the crostini they sat on absorbed all the extra butter.

We stopped by on a sunny winter day and it was full but we managed to snag a table at the outdoor sitting "bar". The drinks were good, and the food was fantastic! They were quick to identify allergies and graciously modified my meal, and it was still very delicious. Small menu that changes, different menu for lunch and dinner.

This is a tiny neighborhood eatery with mega upscale quality and service. The burger melts in your mouth and your taste buds explode. Simple, delicious, unique. The quality of the meat shines through. The chorizo deviled eggs are exceptional with a dense but creamy texture, and so many wonderful flavors. Fries are crispy and heavily seasoned with flavorful salt and pepper. Minimal seating, like I said, tiny but inside a few and about the same outside. Extensive and excellent wine list. Cash only, Venmo, CashApp, Zelle. Bring your tastebuds ready for exciting experiences.

A great spot and concept, very good food and a neat wine selection! Having said that, 4-stars because you have to pay cash or Venmo, and they don't hand you a check, they just tell you your total. This bill moment es awkward and more so because I did not have enough cash for a decent enough tip, and still have my doubts that they overcharged us. Bitter end to an otherwise very good experience. Korean pancakes, garlic shrimp and heirloom salas are off the charts. Burger is good but not my style (with a thick sauce and no veggies). Wines are awesome and cheap, it shows that they care about that. Be prepared to wait for a bit, although you can get drinks on the sidewalk in the meantime. Will be coming back, hopefully when they sort out their check and payment mess.

I had the hummus with a few of the cocktails. The hummus was very delicious. Had pork belly and seasoned very well. Very good indeed.

Went solo and only had a couple of things - but both the Wedge salad and burger were outstanding. The burger is one the top 5 I’ve ever had, and that covers A LOT of ground. Staff are all super friendly, attentive and fun. This place is a no-brainer….

I almost don’t want to say how good this place is, because then we’ll never get back in. It was amazing! From start to finish, great wine, service and food. Their specials change almost daily and the menu also changes. Cannot wait to share this gem with more friends and family! If we lived closer it would be a regular spot.
